FIA EPTA strongly supports the Savings and Investment Union (SIU) as a lever to lift the growth and competitiveness of the EU economy. Capital markets play a critical role as the channel to move savings into productive investment. As market makers and advocates for the SIU, FIA EPTA is pleased to respond to the European Commission’s consultation on capital markets integration. This is a key opportunity to make Europe’s markets a more effective conduit for investment and deliver the best outcomes for investors. As crucial liquidity providers in the market, we call for reducing friction in trading, overcoming fragmentation in post-trade clearing and settlement, and improving the competitive landscape of EU markets.

Part 2 of the consultation includes horizontal barriers to trading and post-trading infrastructures, asset management and funds, supervision, and horizontal questions on the supervisory framework.
