FIA EPTA elects new Chair, Vice Chair, Executive Committee members

17 June 2025

London – The FIA European Principal Traders Association (FIA EPTA) announced that Niels Lemmers, Head of Public Affairs at Flow Traders, has been elected Chair of the association that represents Europe’s leading market making firms.

Lemmers was elected by FIA EPTA’s Executive Committee (ExCo) at a meeting in London on June 16. Lemmers, who had previously been Vice Chair of the association, succeeds Alistair McGrath (Tower Research Capital Europe) who had been Chair since June 2023.

Emma Lokko, Head of Market Structure (Europe) at Susquehanna, was elected Vice Chair.

Niels Lemmers said: "It’s an honor to be elected as the new Chair of FIA EPTA. I’d like to thank Alistair for his commitment, leading FIA EPTA to speak with one voice. Our association will continue striving to play a vital role in the policy arena, in the same way as market makers are central to providing liquidity to the market. With our members and the FIA EPTA Secretariat I intend to further strengthen FIA EPTA’s advocacy on key aspects of market structure, prudential regulation and innovation, while seeking collaboration with public and industry stakeholders to build strong European capital markets together."

Emma Lokko said: “I’m looking forward to engaging even more intensively with FIA EPTA as Vice Chair and helping the market maker community be heard loud and clear about the importance of liquidity, transparency and a competitive level playing field in European markets – all of which are critical for our capital markets to be able to help deliver growth to the European economy. ”

Alistair McGrath said: “It was a pleasure to Chair FIA EPTA over the past two years and to participate in many important policy discussions about strengthening capital markets and liquidity in both the EU and UK. With strong leadership, a great team in FIA EPTA’s Secretariat and a committed membership, I believe our association has never been in a better position as the voice of the European market making community. I’d like to offer my congratulations and support to Niels and Emma as they take up their new roles as Chair and Vice Chair, and I’m looking forward to staying engaged in the association’s work as a member.”

Piebe Teeboom, FIA EPTA Secretary General, said: “I want to thank Alistair for his excellent cooperation in leading FIA EPTA during two important years for our association. I’m looking forward to continuing to work closely with Niels and Emma and the rest of our ExCo, to be a trusted partner for EU and UK policy makers as they move forward to enhance the global competitiveness of European capital markets”

FIA EPTA also announced that the association’s ExCo has reconstituted itself following elections by FIA EPTA’s membership. Lotte de Vos (Head of European Market Structure at Optiver VOF) was newly elected to the ExCo, while Diederik Dorst (All Options International), David Furlong (Virtu Financial) and Virginie Saade (Citadel Securities Europe) were re-elected. They will each serve two-year terms on the committee, which has eight voting members in total. The other voting members of the FIA EPTA ExCo are: Niels Lemmers (Flow Traders, Chair), Emma Lokko (Susquehanna, Vice Chair), Sam Railton (Tower Research Capital), Bruce Savage (FIA). Piebe Teeboom serves as a nonvoting member.
