The FIA Principal Traders Group submitted a comment letter to the Securities and Exchange Commission on Jan. 6, 2014 in response to a FINRA proposed rule change relating to self-trades.

The presentation highlighted key points from the comment letter submitted by FIA in response to the CFTC’s concept release on risk controls and system safeguards for automated trading. FIA PTG members helped draft the comment letter and developed many of the comment letter’s responses to the CFTC’s questions about risk controls and system safeguards currently in use in the futures industry.

According to statistics gathered by FIA from 84 exchanges worldwide, 21.64 billion futures and options contracts were traded in 2013, an increase of 2.1% from the previous year, but still well below the number of contracts traded in 2011 and 2010.
