ETD Volume - December 2020

Worldwide volume of exchange-traded derivatives was 4.63 billion contracts in the month of December, up 4.1% from the previous month and up 64% from December 2019.  This was the highest amount ever recorded for any month, beating the previous mark set in March 2020.

On an annual basis, volume for the year was 46.77 billion contracts, up 35.6% from 2019, and the highest annual total ever recorded by FIA.

Total open interest at the end of December was 987.3 million contracts, down 7.2% from the previous month but up 9.7% from a year ago.

Note: Starting with this month, all data from the Oslo Stock Exchange, including historical data, will be reported under the Euronext Derivatives Market due to the former exchange being consolidated under the latter exchange.
