Entrepreneurs, investors, and regulators realize the incredible potential of fintech to create new opportunities for and streamline financial services businesses. This webinar will explore the CFTC’s approach to fintech, focusing on recent developments involving cryptocurrency products and market places and industry initiatives to use distributed ledger technology and smart contracts to significantly enhance the infrastructure of the derivatives and futures market places. The presenters will also discuss the CFTC’s recent dedicated fintech effort, LabCFTC, and its two primary components: an inward facing CFTC 2.0 and an outward facing GuidePoint. In addition, the webinar will review the CFTC’s fintech efforts in comparison to other U.S. and foreign regulators' initiatives, such as, the U.S. OCC’s Office of Innovation, the SEC’s approach to regulating virtual currency-related products and regulatory sandboxes that have been created by various foreign regulators.
