The Securities and Exchange Commission has announced that Judge Margaret Ryan has been named director of the division of enforcement. She succeeds Sam Waldon who returned to his previous role as chief counsel for the division. Ryan is also a lecturer on military law and justice at Harvard University Law School. She was nominated to the United States Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces in 2006 by President George Bush and served in that role until July 2020 and later became a senior judge at the court.
ASIC chair Joe Longo has confirmed that he will not seek reappointment. His term as chair, which began on 1 June 2021, will end on 31 May 2026. He served as the general counsel for Deutsche Bank in London and Hong Kong for 17 years. Prior to that, Longo was the national director of enforcement at ASIC between 1996 and 2001, and responsible for the coordination and direction of all enforcement and litigation activities. He sits on the board of the International Organisation of Securities Commissions and is vice chair of its Asia Pacific regional committee.
Erkut Ozer has joined Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited as vice president, global client development. He is based in London and focuses on strengthening client relationships and expanding access to Asia’s dynamic capital markets in this role. He joined from G. H. Financials were he worked as a business development executive overseeing the strategy and growth for the ETD Clearing business in the EMEA region.
Gary Saunders has been appointed global head of platform services at Barclays Investment Bank. In this newly created role, Saunders will lead the development and execution of Barclays Liquid Financing’s technology vision. Saunders has worked at Barclays for over 13 years, most recently serving as managing director head of prime derivatives services and managing director, EMEA head prime derivatives services. Saunders is also board member at LCH and vice chairman of the board at FIA.
Allan McGregor has been appointed as head of rates and benchmarks at ASX. In this newly created position, he will oversee their interest rate futures primarily. In terms of benchmarks, he will be responsible for BBSW, including the development of the SOFIA Repo Reference Rate. BBSW is the primary short-term rate used in the financial markets for the pricing and valuation of Australian dollar securities and as a lending reference rate. McGregor has worked at ASX for over 17 years and was previously senior manager of rates.
Dale Michaels has been appointed as head of clearing at Cboe Global Markets. Based in Chicago, he brings almost 30 years of industry experience to this role. His most recent post was senior risk management officer at TMX Group. He has also held the post of chief financial risk officer at OCC and worked at CME Group for over two decades as managing director of risk management.
Cboe Global Markets also appointed Prashant Bhatia as executive vice president, head of enterprise strategy and corporate development. He reports to group chief executive Craig Donohue. Bhatia has advised the management team and worked closely with Cboe's board of directors since December 2023. Prior to this role, he spent 11 years leading enterprise strategy and corporate development at TD Ameritrade, where he played a key role in driving significant growth through both organic initiatives and acquisitions.
Digital asset exchange AsiaNext has appointed ex-FalconX head of credit/financing David Martin as chief executive officer of its derivatives business. He is based in Singapore for this role. Prior to this role he worked at FalconX for about 4 years most recently as head of credit/financing. He brings more than 17 years of experience across investment management, fintech and trading, including nearly a decade in cryptocurrency markets.
RBC Captial Markets announced two new team members. Gaurika Gambhir has joined as its EMEA head of equity derivatives sales. She spent the last 18 years at HSBC, joining as a director and scaling to managing in 2022. Sunny Dhonsi has joined as head of EMEA single stock flow trading. He has a background in equity derivatives trading, portfolio management and multi-asset volatility.
Mustafa Al Niama has joined Mysten Labs as a head of capital markets after 10 years at Goldman Sachs. Al Niama will collaborate with leaders across asset management firms, banks, and fintech companies, while also driving the adoption of the Sui blockchain among institutional investors. He formerly worked at Goldman Sachs, where he held several roles, most recently serving as Americas head of digital assets for three years, among other roles.
Michael De Kroon has joined Rabobank as senior relationship and sector banker. He was formerly head of corporate hedgers US at ABN AMRO Clearing USA. Before that, he held several posts at ABN AMRO Bank N.V. De Kroon has returned to the Netherlands to take up his position at Rabobank.
London-based Will Douglas has joined IMC Trading as a FX options trader. He joins from BNP Paribas, where he worked as a FX options trader and vice president in electronic market making for almost two years. Prior to that, he held positions at Natwest and Barclays.
John Fischer has been promoted to senior vice president, market structure and business development at Citadel Securities, covering the Americas and EMEA, relocating to London for the role. Fischer joined Citadel Securities in December 2022 as vice president for market structure and business development in New York. Before that, he spent almost a decade at NYSE in strategy and business development roles, reaching director rank.
Scila has announced changes to their leadership team. After 17 years as chief technology officer, co-founder Fredrik Lydén is stepping down from the role to take on a new full-time position as senior technology advisor. Fellow co-founder Björn Thornquist has assumed the role of chief technology officer. He previously held the role of chief product officer, now assumed by Gustaf Gräns. Gräns has been with Scila for 14 years and brings deep expertise in back-end development, data structures, and customer value. In addition, two newly created positions have been appointed: Mikael Ohlsson as head of product and Gustav Tano as head of operations.
Kevin Nutt has joined Loqsea Technology as head of market development. He reports to managing director Reza Tareen. Nutt leads client acquisition and development in commodities, with a focus on metals for Loqsea's risk and trading platform. He previously worked at LME as a consultant in May 2019 before becoming senior vice president and head of sales in 2020. Prior to that, he spent fifteen years at Marex.
Prediction market platform Kalshi has hired digital asset influencer John Wang as its new head of crypto. Wang is a crypto-founder and crypto influencer. He worked as an intern at Immutable before co-founding blockchain security company Armor Labs in 2022.
Glenn Chaleff has joined as Wematch.live, a global platform for securities finance, as head of compliance US. Chaleff brings 20+ years’ experience, including leading swap xecution facilities as chief compliance officer at LedgerX, and most recently at RTX Fintech & Research.
