The London Metal Exchange emerged as the winner of this year’s David Setters Trophy, beating StoneX in the final of a highly competitive industry cricket tournament that raised £28,000 for the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

Held on 5 June at Blackheath Cricket Club in London, the 2026 David Setters Trophy brought together teams from across the derivatives industry for a competitive day of cricket, sledging, fundraising and community spirit. Trading Technologies, Lunaro, KRM22 and ICE also delivered strong performances, helping to make the tournament one of the most closely contested to date.

The event, now in its ninth year, was launched by industry friends and former colleagues of David Setters, the former managing director of FOW and a founding trustee of Futures for Kids.

Setters, a well-known figure across the global listed derivatives community, was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in 2012 and has since been a powerful advocate for raising awareness of the disease and funding for research and support.

MND, also known as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS, in North America, is a progressive neurological disease that affects the motor nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. It leads to the wasting of muscles and can cause increasing loss of mobility, as well as difficulties with speaking, swallowing and breathing.

Since the first tournament in 2017, the David Setters Trophy has raised £230,000 for the MND Association, supporting its work to improve care, fund research and raise awareness of the condition.

This year’s organisers thanked the players, spectators, volunteers and sponsors who helped make the day possible, with Broadridge sponsoring the team shirts and OSTTRA supporting the event through pavilion sponsorship.

Plans are already underway for the next chapter of the tournament, with organisers aiming to take the David Setters Trophy to The Kia Oval, home of Surrey County Cricket Club, in September 2027.

"We’re incredibly proud to have raised £28,000 this year for MNDA – bringing our total to £230,000. The generosity and enthusiasm shown year after year is genuinely humbling,” said Dan Carter, CEO of KRM22 and organiser of the match.

“What started as a simple idea has grown into something very special, and we’re so excited about the journey ahead, including our ambition to take the event to The Oval in 2027 and build on this momentum for many years to come."

Donations can still be made through the tournament’s JustGiving page

For an event rooted in friendship, sport and a shared determination to support those affected by MND, this year’s tournament was another reminder of what the derivatives industry can achieve when it comes together for a cause that matters.
