Manager, Digital Communications

General summary
The Manager of Digital Communications will oversee FIA's social media channels, and support FIA's Commercial Department with the goal of increasing FIA's engagement with our members, and showcasing our organization's value to the industry at large. This role covers both the management of social media strategy and analytics, as well as creation of content, support of website assets, and collaboration on various FIA emails and digital tools in service of FIA and its members.

Responsibilities
The primary responsibility of this role is to manage FIA's social media presence, primarily Twitter and LinkedIn. The Manager of Digital Communications will write and publish social media content, manage short-term and long-term schedules, measure engagement through data, and generally lead the Commercial Department's social media strategy.

The Manager of Digital Communications will collaborate with the Marketing Department to ensure digital communications posts comply with brand guidelines; support the distribution of marketing related content on these shared channels; and coordinate on plans for promotional posts generated by Marketing.

The Manager will recommend appropriate tools related to social workflow (such as Sendable, Canva, etc) and working with Communications and Marketing staff to manage budget and train staff on those tools.

Additionally, the Manager of Digital Communications will have shared responsibility with other staff in the Communications team in delivering FIA’s broader communications efforts, to include:

  • Compiling our monthly People News roundup of hires and promotion in the industry.
  • Writing news-style articles for publication on FIA.org about key issues or trends that matter to our industry. This includes "same day" content from FIA-branded events, as well as relevant policy/government meetings in Washington, D.C.
  • Updating the FIA.org website with comment letters, news articles, revised text and various content needs from across the organization.
  • Providing copy and supporting email production of distributions such as the Member Update, SmartBrief, Ops/Tech emails, MarketVoice distributions and other similar efforts.
  • Helping monitor press inquiries, media mentions of FIA, and important news developments
  • Collaborating with Communications staff on long-term editorial calendars and assignments.
  • Generally pitching in with editing, writing and other duties to support the department and FIA.

Required competencies

  • Experience in an editorial/communications environment for a professional/business audience
  • Experience of generating and monitoring social media activity in line with an organization’s key priorities and objectives
  • Experience working in a web publishing environment and managing an editorial calendar
  • Excellent writing skills and attention to detail
  • Educated to degree level
  • Familiarity with financial or commodities markets preferred
