FIA SIFMA AMG Asset Management Derivatives Forum 2027

FIA SIFMA AMG Asset Management Derivatives Forum 2027 begins the evening of Tuesday, February 9, 2027, which is Mardi Gras Day in New Orleans. Mardi Gras is one of the city's busiest annual events, and attendees should expect significant crowds, street closures, traffic restrictions and transportation delays throughout the day.

If possible, we strongly encourage attendees to arrive in New Orleans on Monday, February 8, or earlier to avoid the most significant Mardi Gras Day transportation disruptions. Parades do not start until the late afternoon on Monday, so travel earlier in the day shouldn’t be impacted.

Travel FAQs

What should I expect if I arrive on Tuesday, February 9?

Attendees arriving on Tuesday should plan for significant crowds, road closures and traffic restrictions. Major Mardi Gras Day parades begin in the morning and continue throughout the day, with streets beginning to close approximately 2 hours prior to the parade start time. Parade routes extend into downtown New Orleans and Canal Street, where The Ritz-Carlton is located. Please allow significantly more travel time than you normally would when traveling from the airport to the hotel.

Will I be able to get from the airport to The Ritz-Carlton on Tuesday, February 9?

Yes, but getting to the hotel may take longer than usual and the most direct route may not always be available. While taxi and rideshare services should still be available from the airport, road closures and pedestrian crowds may affect vehicle access and drop-off locations near the hotel. Please do not assume that a taxi or rideshare will be able to reach the hotel's main entrance.

I'm driving to New Orleans. What should I know?

We strongly recommend not driving into central New Orleans on Mardi Gras Day unless necessary. If you are driving, allow substantial extra time and expect road closures, traffic restrictions and limited access to some streets. Parking restrictions and towing rules are also strictly enforced during Mardi Gras. Attendees planning to park at The Ritz-Carlton should contact the hotel in advance for the latest information regarding vehicle access and parking.

Will public transportation be operating?

Public transportation will operate on modified schedules and routes during Mardi Gras. Streetcar and bus service may be suspended or rerouted around parade routes and large crowds. Do not rely on a normal transit route or schedule when planning your arrival.

Is it better to walk once I'm downtown?

For short distances, walking may be the easiest way to get around during Mardi Gras. However, expect very large crowds, particularly near Canal Street and the French Quarter (where the hotel is located). If arriving with luggage, comfortable shoes and luggage that is easy to maneuver are strongly recommended.

Where can I find the latest travel and transportation information?

Mardi Gras parade schedules, street closures and transportation arrangements are subject to change. We recommend checking NOLA Ready for street closures and transportation information, Routewise for parade routes and real-time parade tracking, and the New Orleans RTA for public transportation updates shortly before your trip and again on the day of travel.

Can I arrive on Wednesday, February 10 instead?

Conference sessions do not begin until Wednesday afternoon, February 10, so attendees may choose to travel to New Orleans on Wednesday morning instead (although you would miss the Networking Reception on Tuesday evening).

How can I track the parades?

A great app to download is the WDSU Parade Tracker as this lists all parades, routes and has a live tracker of the beginning of the parade.
