The European Commission has appointed Antoine Begasse as acting deputy head of unit for savings and investments union coordination, based in Brussels. He previously served as policy assistant to the DG FISMA deputy director-general and was a member of the cabinet of Commissioner Mairead McGuinness. Before that, he served for six years as the EU’s finance counsellor in Washington.
Bank of America has promoted Denis Manelski and Soofian Zuberi to presidents and co-heads of global markets as part of a broader leadership reshuffle within its trading division. Manelski, who joined the firm in 2004, was previously head of sales for fixed income, currencies and commodities. Zuberi, who has more than 30 years of industry experience, most recently served as head of global equities, a role he held for the past four years.
These appointments came after Jim DeMare was promoted from head of global markets to co-president for the entire bank. Additional changes within Bank of America’s global markets leadership include:
Laura Chepucavage and Carlos Fernandez-Aller have been appointed co-heads of global FICC Macro, which includes global financing and futures, global rates, counterparty portfolio management and foreign exchange.
Matt McQueen will become head of global FICC Micro, covering mortgages and securitizsed products, municipal banking and global credit.
Brian Carosielli will serve as head of global markets sales, responsible for global FICC sales, equities distribution and strategic relationship management.
Glenn Koh and Stuart Bourne have been named co-heads of global equities, with Koh overseeing global equities trading and Bourne leading prime brokerage.
Bob Munsey will continue in his role as head of global markets trading risk and global markets business controls.
Karen Fang and Sarang Gadkari will co-lead global capital solutions, a newly formed group focused on structured and complex financing needs across public and private markets. Both will retain their current responsibilities.
Ashok Krishnan has been named head of platforms, overseeing efficiency initiatives and the deployment of generative AI capabilities.
UBS has announced a series of senior leadership changes within its group executive board, effective 1 January 2026, following the separate nomination of Markus Ronner, group chief compliance and governance officer, to serve as vice chairman of the UBS Group AG board. Michelle Bereaux, currently group integration officer, will become group head of compliance and operational risk control. Beatriz Martin, head of non-core and legacy, will take on the role of group chief operating officer. She will continue as lead for sustainability and impact, president EMEA and UK chief executive. Mike Dargan, in his role as group chief technology officer, will focus on strengthening UBS’s technology platforms and driving the firm’s strategy across emerging technologies, including AI and digital assets.
The Board of Directors of the Bank for International Settlements has announced that Christine Lagarde, president of the European Central Bank, will succeed Jerome Powell, chair of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, as Chair of the Global Economy Meeting (GEM) and Economic Consultative Committee (ECC) from May 2026. The GEM is responsible for monitoring and assessing developments, risks and opportunities in the world economy and the global financial system; and providing guidance to three Basel-based central bank committees: the Committee on the Global Financial System, the BIS Committee on Payments and Market Infrastructures and the Markets Committee.
The London Metal Exchange has appointed Stephen Higgins as a non-executive director on its board. Higgins brings more than 40 years of experience in the metals industry, including 34 years at Freeport-McMoRan, where he currently serves as executive vice president and chief administrative officer. He also chairs The Copper Club, sits on the board of the International Copper Association, and served as chair of the LME Copper Committee for the past five years.
Shikher Bisans has been appointed as co-head of North America power trading at Goldman Sachs. He joins from Citi where he had a long career, starting as an associate and rising to head of east power trading.
Morgan Downey has joined Marex as executive director. Downey most recently served as a managing director at Macquarie in New York, following a prior role as an executive director at Mizuho. Before that, he spent seven years at Societe Generale in senior leadership positions, including head of ETD for the Americas, overseeing sales, coverage and trading across futures and options. Downey’s earlier career experience includes agency execution leadership roles and futures sales positions at Bank of America Merrill Lynch.
Eric Cheek has joined Balyasny Asset Management as director of futures operations. He previously spent more than five years at Citi in senior futures and options operations leadership roles, culminating as global head of ETD deliveries, before moving to Citadel as an operations manager overseeing post-trade processes across fixed income, commodities and equity options. Earlier in his career, he led OTC brokerage operations at Millennium Management.
David Feltes has joined Alvarez & Marsal as a managing director and partner in the firm’s EMEA financial services business, based in London. He previously led operational resilience and financial market infrastructure initiatives as a principal at RocketFin, following senior roles at Capco and KPMG focused on market infrastructure, digital assets and operational resilience.
Rogier van Kempen has joined Citi as an executive director. He previously spent over 14 years at J.P. Morgan in senior credit risk roles across the Americas, EMEA and Asia Pacific, focused on clearinghouse risk.
Aman Thind has been appointed as global head of technology strategy and enterprise architecture at JP Morgan. Thind joins this newly created role from State Street where he served as the chief technology executive for State Street Alpha platform and formerly chief technology executive for Digital Assets division.
Miami International Holdings has announced expanded roles for two members of its senior management team. Shelly Brown has been appointed chief executive officer of MIAX Futures and chief strategy officer at Miami International Holdings. He joined MIAX Exchange Group in 2011. Prior to that, he held roles at Nasdaq, Susquehanna and Philadelphia Stock Exchange.
Joseph W. Ferraro III was appointed president of MIAX Products,, a subsidiary of MIAX focused on the development and licensing of new proprietary products. Ferraro will also continue in his existing role as senior vice president, deputy general counsel at MIAX. He joined the company in 2016, playing a key role in its 2020 acquisition of MIAX Futures, exclusive index licensing agreement with Bloomberg, and MIAX Futures Onyx trading platform launch. Ferrao was previously senior vice president, deputy general counsel and assistant secretary at ISE Holdings (now part of Nasdaq) for 16 years. He also held the position of general counsel and secretary, member of board of directors at Longitude, a subsidiary company of ISE.
ASX has announced the appointment of Lucinda McCann as chief compliance officer. She reports to chief executive officer Helen Lofthouse. She joins from Norton Rose Fulbright, where she was a partner in the corporate team. She previously held senior leadership roles at Australian Prudential Regulation Authority, including chief general counsel. McCann brings more than 25 years’ experience advising on financial services, corporate law, superannuation, banking and insurance regulation.
Cboe Global Markets has announced JJ Kinahan will join as senior vice president, head of retail expansion and alternative investment products. Kinahan started his career at Cboe as a market maker, where he worked for 20 years. He later held posts at Van der Moolen, TD Ameritrade and tastytrade. Before re-joining Cboe Global Markets, Kinahan was the CEO of IG US Holdings, the parent company of tastylive, Inc., tastytrade, Inc., tastycrypto, The Small Exchange, and tastyfx.
Flow Traders announced that Thomas Spitz, the company's recently appointed CEO, has been elected as a member of its board of directors. In addition, Caroline Terry has been elected as independent non-executive director of the company's board, effective once all required regulatory approvals have been obtained. Terry joined Flow Traders in 2023 and before that was a managing partner at Amicos Advisors Limited. Spitz was appointed in July as the successor to Mike Kuehnel, who stepped down. He began his career as a credit derivatives trader at Société Générale in Paris. Some of his recent posts include senior managing director at First Abu Dhabi Bank and chief executive officer, QuantCube Middle East at QuantCube Technology.
Capitolis, a financial technology company, has appointed Richard Schiffman as chief product officer. Reporting to Gil Mandelzis, the firm’s chief executive and founder, Schiffman will lead product strategy and execution. Schiffman brings more than 30 years of experience across product, strategy and technology in global financial services. He joins Capitolis from MarketAxess, where he was the firm’s first employee. Prior to MarketAxess, Schiffman served as a managing director at BlackRock Financial Management. Earlier in his career, he was vice president and manager of fixed income research technology at J.P. Morgan.
Mark Wendland, former partner and chief operating officer at DRW, has been appointed as chief executive officer of Tharimmune, a biotech company that has pivoted to operating as digital asset treasury for Canton Coin, the token used for transactions on the Canton Network blockchain. The appointment was announced as part of a $545 million equity investment led by DRW and Liberty City Ventures. The investment also included ARK Invest, Bitwave, Broadridge, Clear Street, Copper, Digital Asset, Fairmint Inc., Feynman Point Asset Management, Five North, IntellectEU, Kaiko, Kenetic, Kraken, LendOS, Lukka, MPCH, Nima Capital, Obsidian Software, Polychain Capital, Proof Group, SBI Group, The Tie, Tradeweb Markets, and 7RIDGE. Wendland joined DRW as its global head of treasury in 2019. He previously worked at Citadel, where he was the head of global fixed iIncome finance and oversaw the global fixed income repo team and the OTC & FX Operations teams with a focus on secured funding, counterparty exposure and diversification and overseeing financial portfolio construction.
Coinbase has announced the appointment of Liz Martin as vice president product, head of derivatives and markets. She joins from Goldman Sachs where she worked across trading, technology, and market structure for 25 years.
InPlay Global, a newly established company that plans to create a market for "sports performance" securities, has appointed Troy Kane as president and chief operating officer. Kane will oversee market operations, regulatory strategy and technology infrastructure as the company moves toward commercialization, subject to regulatory approval. Kane joins from MIAX Exchange Group where he was previously chief executive officer of MIAX Global Derivatives. He will report to Edwin Johnson, founder and CEO of InPlay Global, and will be based in Chicago.
Howard Kramer, retired SEC attorney, has been appointed independent director on 24X Exchange, an exchange that offers 23-hour weekday trading of U.S. equities. Kramer has over 40 years’ experience in government and private practice with an expertise in financial markets regulation.
