March 2020 stats on customer funds held at US FCMs

Futures accounts: The total amount of customer funds in futures accounts at U.S. FCMs was recorded at $318.3 billion in the month of March, surpassing the previous record by more than $100 billion. March’s level was up 60.5% from a year ago and up 65.3% over five years. The number of FCMs holding customer funds in futures accounts was recorded at 53 in March, down from 54 a year ago and down from 57 five years ago.

Customer funds held in cleared swaps accounts at U.S. FCMs reached $153.3 billion in the month of March, surpassing the previous record by more than $30 billion. March’s level was up 55.6% from March 2019 and up 188.6% from March 2015. The number of FCMs holding customer funds in cleared swaps accounts was recorded at 19 in February, up from 17 a year ago, with the new swap dealers being INTL FCStone and CHS Hedging.
