Few have contributed as much as Paula Tosini to broadening and deepening the financial services industry’s understanding of futures markets. A Fulbright scholar and a former lecturer in finance and assistant professor of economics at the University of Maryland, she served for several years as the chief economist and director of economic analysis at the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. While at the CFTC, she was awarded the Presidential Rank Award, the highest award given by the government, for her outstanding service in managing the 1987 stock market crash and for her substantial contribution to the President’s Working Group report. She subsequently joined the Futures Industry Institute, established by the Futures Industry Association in 1989 and directed its educational programs. In particular, she developed the FII’s ethics program, which is widely used in the futures industry and at the New York Stock Exchange.
