Washington, DC - Today, FIA President and CEO Walt Lukken paid tribute to the 30 year success of FIA affiliate FIA Japan:

“I congratulate the FIA Japan Board of Directors and Members on marking the thirtieth anniversary of their organization.  FIA Japan has ably served the futures and derivatives industry of Japan and the globe over that span of time and is well positioned to serve this community going forward with FIA and FIA Japan’s recent affiliation commitment.

“It took great foresight and a bit of courage by certain individuals in 1988 to recognize the potential for such an organization.  I would note that Yasuo Mogi along with Mitch Fulscher and select others, were part of a small group that had a vision for what this organization could become.  And indeed, FIA Japan has blossomed into the hub of the derivatives community in Japan where prominent policymakers and industry members come to discuss and solve for the issues of the day.  Yesterday’s attendance by CFTC Chairman J. Christopher Giancarlo and JFSA Commissioner, Mr. Toshihide Endo, highlights this success.

On behalf of the entire FIA board, I congratulate FIA Japan on its achievements over these past three decades, and I look forward to FIA Japan’s continued growth and triumphs in the decades to come.”
