Market Technology Division

The division fosters the exchange of knowledge and experience and provides a forum for discussion to benefit division members and other futures industry technology personnel. 


The division also studies and advocates means by which technological solutions can be used to enhance efficiency in member operations. Currently, over 100 industry professionals participate in the division. Members may participate in various committees including Business Continuity Management, Market Access, and Events & Communications. FIA Market Technology Division hosts events in New York and Chicago throughout the year to provide a platform for discussion of topical issues and networking opportunities.

    A number of key dates and recommendations have been issued recently regarding the cessation of LIBOR and the planned transition to certain risk-free rates by the end of 2021.

    On 17 December, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission hosted a meeting of its Global Markets Advisory Committee to review the COVID-19 pandemic’s impact on derivatives clearing and to discuss regulatory developments in 2020 related to markets.

  • IRS relief issued for non-delta one products

    On 2 December 2016, the IRS released a notice postponing the implementation date for non-delta-one products to 2018 and stating that it will consider the extent to which a taxpayer or withholding agent has made a good faith effort to comply with the regulations in enforcing the regulations for any delta one transaction.
