October 2020 stats on customer funds held at US FCMs

Futures Accounts: The total amount of customer funds in futures accounts at U.S. FCMs was recorded at $290 billion in the month of October. This was up 34.5% from a year ago but down 8.9% from March’s record-setting total. The number of FCMs holding customer funds in futures accounts was recorded at 53 in October, down from 54 a year ago and down from 55 five years ago.

Swaps Accounts: Customer funds held in cleared swaps accounts at U.S. FCMs reached $142 billion in the month of October, the lowest since March’s record setting total. October’s level was up 21.8% from October 2019 and up 149.9% from October 2015. The number of FCMs holding customer funds in cleared swaps accounts was recorded at 15 in October, down from 18 a year ago, with the withdrawal of Mizuho Securities, ADM Investor Services, and ED&F Man Capital Markets.
